Standard EN SampleHousehold and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Part 2-81: Particular requirements for foot warmers and heating mats
Also Known As:
2015+AMD1 IEC 60335-2-81: 2017 In particular, foot warmers and heated mats are the subject of the CSV standard's safety criteria for domestic and related electrical appliances. These appliances are not made for use in commercial or industrial settings; rather, they are meant for use in residential settings. The standard strives to ensure the safe use of these appliances by all people, with the exception of those who have physical or mental impairments that prevent them from operating the appliance safely without supervision or instructions. It covers the common hazards provided by these machines. Additionally, the specification does not account for kids using the equipment.
The second edition of the standard, which was issued in 2002, is superseded by this third edition, which is a technical revision. It covers controls in flexible wires and appliance inlets as well as new specifications for washable appliances. National Committees are urged to grant testing agencies and equipment manufacturers a transitory period so they can meet the new specifications and carry out the required tests. Within 12 to 36 months after the publication date, it is advised that this standard be adopted for implementation. IEC 60335-1:2010 should be read in addition to this standard.
