Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-2: Particular Requirements for Vacuum Cleaners and Water-Suction Cleaning Appliances
Also Known As:
The safety standards for household water-suction cleaning equipment and electric vacuum cleaners are the subject of the standard IEC 60335-2-2:2009+A1:1012+A2:2016. The standard covers all vacuum cleaners, including those used for animal grooming, centrally located vacuum cleaners, and automatic battery-powered cleaners, with a rated voltage up to 250 V. It also protects the vacuum cleaners' motorized cleaning heads and current-carrying hoses.
The primary differences between this edition and the prior one are the text's alignment with IEC 60335-1:2001 and its modifications. For manufacturers and testing organizations to assure compliance with the new standards and to get ready for new or revised tests, the standard suggests a transitional period. Within 12 to 36 months following the publication date, the document should be adopted nationally.
The standard's sixth edition (2009) as well as amendments 1 (2012) and 2 (2016) are all included in the consolidated version, which should be read in conjunction with IEC 60335-1:2010. Therefore, it is unnecessary to order the amendments separately. The standard ensures the safe operation of vacuum cleaners and water-suction cleaning machines in domestic settings by covering a variety of safety-related topics.
