The safety standard IEC 60335-2-72:2012 is applicable to floor treatment equipment meant for commercial usage. These tools are made for cleaning, scrubbing, wet or dry pick-up, polishing, applying wax or detergents, and shampooing floors, among other activities. The standard applies to powered walk-behind and powered ride-on vehicles, whether traction drive systems are included or not. Internal combustion engines, mains-powered motors, or battery-powered motors with built-in chargers can all be used to power the devices.
The standard's application is covered by a number of commercial establishments, including hotels, schools, hospitals, industries, retail stores, and office buildings. It does not cover equipment made for everyday housework. With updated standards, markings, instructions, and new annexes on the emission of acoustic noise and vibration, the standard has undergone a technical modification in this edition.
