Also Known As:
The criteria for wet and dry vacuum cleaners used in commercial settings, including those with power brushes, are covered by the safety standard IEC 60335-2-69:2012. This standard is applicable to a variety of vacuum cleaners, including dust extractors and back-pack types made for indoor and outdoor use. Centrally located vacuum cleaners are also included, however system installation is excluded.
The standard is applicable to vacuum cleaners with a variety of power sources, including battery- and mains-powered motors with rated voltages of 250 volts for single-phase appliances and 480 volts for other appliances. It also has allowances for equipment that manages dangerous dust, such as asbestos.
The standard's third version from 2002 and all of its updates are replaced by this fourth edition. The standard's scope, words and definitions, and numerous clauses have all undergone alterations and upgrades in this edition. New educational annexes on the emission of vibration and acoustic noise have also been included.
IEC 60335-1:2010, which outlines general safety criteria for home appliances and other comparable electrical devices, should be read in combination with this standard.
