Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Part 2-15: Particular requirements for appliances for heating liquids
Also Known As:
2012+AMD1:2016 IEC 60335-2 The CSV standard is centered on the security of electrical devices made to heat liquids for domestic and other uses. It applies to equipment with a rated voltage of no more than 250 V that is meant for use by laypeople in homes, businesses, light industries, and farms. However, this standard does not apply to equipment used in commercial food processing. This standard's main goal is to address frequent risks connected to appliances that people use in and around the house.
The previous fifth edition of the standard, along with any revisions, was issued in 2002 and is now obsolete. The addition of criteria for dynamic pressure cookers and soy milk makers, as well as extended requirements for cordless kettles throughout the entire document, are among the most significant modifications in this edition. The instructions for the various types of appliances covered by the standard have also been reorganized. A note in Section 19.102 has been removed, and the notes from earlier editions have been changed to normative text.
National Committees are urged to give equipment manufacturers and testing facilities time to adapt to the new standards and carry out the required tests. Within 12 to 36 months of the publication date, it is advised that the content of this document be adopted for national implementation. This standard should be studied in connection with IEC 60335-1:2010, and the sixth edition (2012) and its amendment 1 (2016) are both included in this consolidated version, eliminating the need to request a separate modification.
