It also amends some annotations to make them normative text and emphasizes that some sentences do not apply to amusement machines. It is a comprehensive and updated version of the standard because it refers to Annex R.

Utilizing this standard in conjunction with the most recent revision of IEC 60335-1 and its revisions is advised. National Committees are urged to give producers and testing facilities some time to adapt to the new criteria and conduct the required tests before enforcing the norm across the country.
