Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-72: Particular Requirements for Floor Treatment Machines with or without Traction Drive, for Commercial Use
Also Known As:
A standard called IEC 60335-2-72:2016 focuses on the security requirements for floor treatment devices. These motorized walk-behind or powered ride-on devices are used for sweeping, scrubbing, polishing, and wet or dry picking up of floors with artificial surfaces, among other cleaning applications. The standard is applicable to equipment designed for use in hotels, schools, hospitals, factories, retail stores, and commercial buildings.
The standard covers specifications for a variety of power sources, including internal combustion engines, mains-powered motors, and battery-powered motors with an integrated battery charger. It also handles the emission of acoustic noise and vibration, as well as topics like labels and directions for safe use.
The standard's fourth edition, which is a technical revision, has been updated to reflect modern technologies. In order to more clearly distinguish it from other similar standards, the title and scope have been updated. National committees have suggested that the standard be adopted and put into practice within 12 to 36 months of its publication.
IEC 60335-1:2010, which outlines general safety criteria for electrical appliances, should be read in combination with this standard.
