Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 1: General Requirements

A standard called IEC 60335-1:2010+A1:2013 deals with the security standards for electrical appliances used in homes and other similar situations. This standard is applicable to devices with rated voltages up to 480 V for other devices and 250 V for single-phase devices. Appliances with batteries and DC power are also included.
The standard covers both domestic appliances and those used by regular people in retail establishments, small businesses, and farms. These include, for instance, catering equipment, commercial cleaning equipment, and hairstyling equipment.
Compared to the fourth edition, this standard's fifth version has undergone a number of changes. The text has been updated to reflect the most recent revisions of normative references; the functional safety criteria for programmable electronic circuits have been changed; the insulation requirements for high-frequency voltages have been updated; and the requirements for class III constructions have been clarified.
National Committees are urged to give producers and testing facilities time to adjust their goods and testing practices in order to meet the new criteria. The material from earlier corrections is included in this version. There is no need to order a separate amendment because the fifth edition and its amendment 1 are both included in the consolidated version.
