Safety of Amusement Rides and Amusement Devices - Part 1: Design and Manufacture
Also Known As:
An international standard known as ISO 17842-1:2015 specifies the minimal standards for the design and production of amusement rides and amusement devices. This standard covers a range of equipment and building types used in fairgrounds, theme parks, and other sites. Roundabouts, swings, Ferris wheels, roller coasters, chutes, grandstands, and other structures are among the many devices that are covered by the standard.
The standard makes sure that various amusement equipment is built, installed, and calculated in a way that ensures user safety. It establishes regulations to stop deterioration or loss of integrity over time, necessitating that equipment continue to be safe even after numerous installations. However, the requirement does not apply to stationary grandstands, installations on construction sites, scaffolding, mobile agricultural structures, or straightforward coin-operated toys designed for up to three kids.
Aside from amusement rides and devices, ISO 17842-1:2015 can also be used as a guide for the design of similar structural or passenger-carrying apparatuses.
