The ISO 17842-2:2022 standard focuses on making sure that amusement rides and gadgets are maintained, operated, inspected, and tested safely. In addition to temporary or permanent installations in fairgrounds, theme parks, and other sites, it is relevant to installations that are routinely utilized without experiencing any degradation or loss of integrity. The standard is made to include installing, assembling, disassembling, handling, operating, maintaining, repairing, modifying, and inspecting amusement devices. Controllers, operators, attendants, and inspection bodies are its main objectives.

However, some things are not covered by this standard's application. Grandstands, construction site installations, scaffolding, detachable agricultural structures, simple coin-operated children's amusement equipment carrying up to three children, recreational equipment like waterslides or summer toboggan runs, playground equipment, rope courses, climbing walls, inflatable trampolines, and swimming pool equipment are just a few examples of the exclusions that are not all-inclusive. These things are not covered by ISO 17842-2:2022, specifically.
