Touring Ski-Boots for Adults - Interface with Touring Ski-Bindings - Requirements and Test Methods
Also Known As:
The goal of the ISO 9523:2019 standard is to specify the dimensions and properties of the interface between touring ski bindings and ski boots. The standard covers the specifications, testing procedures, and labeling for rigid-soled ski boots used with current touring ski binding systems.
This standard strives to ensure that the size and layout of the interfaces have an impact on the release function of the ski-binding systems. The standard does recognize, however, that compliance with this document may not be required in order to achieve the appropriate degree of safety for ski-binding methods that are not dependent on the sole's shape or have other requirements for sole dimensions.
This standard only applies to ski boots in the Mondopoint system that are 15.0 sizes and larger. Furthermore, it only applies to stiff touring boots; it does not apply to boots with softer shells, such as Telemark boots, because they lack the requisite shell stability to work with the release systems.
