The ISO 18527-2:2021 standard specifies the specifications and testing methods for eye protection devices used in squash, racquetball, and squash 57. It applies to all eye guards, including those with prescription lenses, designed to safeguard eyes while engaging in or instructing in these sports.
The standard outlines the specifications for the performance qualities of the materials used in eye protection. It also describes the information that must be provided by the maker and the marking requirements.
Additional guidance on the choice and application of eye protection specifically for squash, racquetball, and squash 57 is provided in the standard's Annex A.
This standard does not apply to sports eye protection intended to be worn over prescription eyeglasses, eye protection for other occupational applications, eye protection without lenses, eye protection for sports with unrelated hazards or greater risks than squash, racquetball, and squash 57, or eye protection with gradient-tinted lenses, as these are not appropriate for these sports.
