Standard ENTextile Floor Coverings - Determination of Thickness of Pile Above the Substrate
Also Known As:
A method for gauging the thickness of the pile over the substrate in textile floor coverings is provided by the ISO 1766:1999 standard. All textile floor coverings with trimmable piles that can be removed from the substrate are covered by the standard. If these areas cannot be measured independently, it is not appropriate for floor coverings with changing pile thickness or density.
Clause 8 of ISO 8543 is combined with this technique. It should be noted that bonded-pile, needled-pile, and flocked-pile textile floor coverings may present complications when using this procedure because it can be difficult to choose an appropriate end point when trimming these goods. As a result, care should be taken when interpreting the findings from various kinds of floor coverings.
