Standard EN EN FRMachine Tools Safety - Presses - Part 1: General Safety Requirements
Also Known As:
ISO 16092-1:2017 is a standard that outlines the technical safety requirements and measures needed to be followed by those involved in the design, manufacture, and supply of presses intended to work with cold metal or other sheet materials such as plastic, cardboard, rubber, or leather. This standard applies to presses that operate independently or can be integrated into manufacturing systems. It covers presses ranging from small high-speed machines operated by a single worker producing small workpieces to large, relatively slow machines operated by several workers and used to produce large workpieces. However, it does not cover machines designed for other purposes such as metal cutting, attaching fasteners, bending/folding/welding, or working in explosive atmospheres.
ISO 16092-1:2017 considers intended use, reasonably foreseeable misuse, and all significant hazards during the various phases of the press machine's life. It covers the safety measures for both operators and other exposed persons and deals with safety requirements related to the use of programmable electronic systems and programmable pneumatic systems. This standard defines common safety requirements for presses that use cold metal or material partly of cold metal, which should be used in referral to other parts of the ISO 16092 series that deal with specific hazards related to the types of presses used. Finally, this standard does not apply to presses manufactured before the date of publication.
