ISO 12215-5:2008 is a standard that provides guidelines for the construction and design of monohull small craft. It includes the determination of design pressures and stresses, as well as the calculation of the scantlings, which are the dimensions of the structural members that make up the hull. The standard applies to small craft made from a variety of materials, including fibre reinforced plastics, aluminium or steel alloys, glued wood or other suitable boat building material, with a length of hull between 2,5 m and 24 m. The standard is only applicable to vessels that are in the intact condition and have a maximum speed of 50 knots or less when fully loaded and ready for use.
