Standard EN SampleNear-White Metal Wet Abrasive Blast Cleaning
Also Known As:
The NACE WAB-2/SSPC-SP 10 [WAB] standard for near-white metal wet abrasive blast cleaning outlines a procedure for steel surfaces that are coated or uncoated. In this procedure, water and abrasive materials are used in a blast cleaning operation. This can be done in a number of ways, such as by adding water to the abrasive stream or by adding abrasives to pressurized water. The standard uses visual inspection to determine the WAB degree, or level of visible surface cleanliness.
The conditions for reaching and verifying the required end condition of the surface are laid out in the standard. Additionally, it covers non-visible pollution and soluble salt tests while also addressing apparent surface contaminants. This standard's objective is to make sure that the near-white metal wet abrasive blast cleaning procedure removes surface impurities effectively and makes the steel surface ready for additional coating or treatment.
