Standard EN SampleWhite Metal Wet Abrasive Blast Cleaning
Also Known As:
The White Metal Wet Abrasive Blast Cleaning Standard, or NACE SP0715 WAB-2015, describes how to prepare a surface using water and abrasives in a blast cleaning procedure. This can be done by adding water to the abrasive stream, adding abrasive to pressured water, or applying pressure to an abrasive slurry.
The NACE WAB-1/SSPC-SP 5 (WAB) level of visible surface cleanliness that can be obtained by wet abrasive blast cleaning on uncoated or coated steel surfaces is clearly defined by the standard. It lays out specifications for the surface's final state after visual inspection, as well as the tools and methods needed to attain and confirm this state.
It's crucial to remember that this regulation only addresses pollutants on surfaces that are visible. Readers are directed to Appendix A for details on nonvisible contamination. Additionally, SSPC Guide 15, which is cited in the standard, provides instructions for conducting tests for soluble salts.
