Standard ENSAE Fuel Consumption Test Procedure (Engineering Method)
Also Known As: SAE J1526_201509
SAE J 1526:2015 standard is a fuel-consumption test procedure used for evaluating the difference in fuel consumption between vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of more than 10,000 pounds. The test uses standard industry accepted data collection and statistical analysis methods. It is not meant for evaluating component changes but can be used for comparing two or more different vehicles. The preferred testing method is track testing, although on-road testing is allowed. The test must be supported by collected data and analysis, and all tests must follow the weather constraints described within the procedure. In addition to SAE J 1526, this standard can be used alongside other SAE recommended practices and future aerodynamic and vehicle performance standards.
