Standard ENStandard for Electric Motor-Operated Hand-Held Tools, Transportable Tools and Lawn and Garden Machinery - Safety - Part 4-1: Particular Requirements for Chain Saws
Also Known As:
The UL 62841-4-1:2021 standard is a safety standard that applies to chain saws that are designed for cutting wood and intended for use by one person. The standard covers chain saws that are operated with the right hand on the rear handle and the left hand on the front handle. However, it does not apply to chain saws that are designed for use with a guide-plate and riving knife, or in any other way, such as with support or as a stationary or transportable machine. It also does not cover pole-mounted pruners.
The standard specifies the requirements applicable to battery-operated top-handle chain saws in the U.S. and states that these requirements are specified in Annex 101.DVA. It notes that in Canada, battery-operated top-handle chain saws are covered in CSA Z62.1 as Class 2B chain saws. The standard also specifies the requirements applicable to battery-operated pruning saws in both the U.S. and Canada, which are specified in Annex 101.DVB.
