The standard is applicable to appliances with a rated voltage of up to 480 V for other appliances and up to 250 V for single-phase equipment linked between one phase and neutral.
As of January 13, 2020, this standard will supersede AS/NZS 60335.2.90:2015 as the applicable reference. It is the same as the fourth edition of the international standard IEC 60335-2-90. This standard aims to protect users' safety and eliminate any dangers that might result from using commercial microwave ovens.
