Standard EN SampleHousehold and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Particular Requirements for Microwave Ovens, Including Combination Microwave Ovens
Also Known As:
A standard known as AS/NZS 60335.2.25:2002 explicitly addresses the security requirements for microwave ovens used in homes. The specification is applicable to microwave ovens with a maximum rated voltage of 250 V. Additionally, combination microwave ovens are included, for which a separate annex is applicable.
This standard is intended to address the typical risks connected to people using microwave ovens in and around their homes. However, it does not take into account situations like unsupervised use by young children or people with disabilities, or when young children mistake the device for a toy.
It is significant to note that this standard does not apply to commercial microwave ovens, industrial microwave heating equipment, medical devices, or appliances designed for use in particular situations with unique requirements, such as those where corrosive or explosive substances are present.
Appliances used in automobiles, ships, or aircraft might require additional specifications, or they might need to meet criteria set by national health authorities, labor protection authorities, or organizations of a similar nature in other nations.
