Also Known As:
Focusing on the safety standards for microwave ovens used in homes and other similar situations, the IEC 60335-2-25:2010 standard. Provisions for combined microwave ovens are also included. The standard is applicable to appliances with a maximum rated voltage of 250 V.
The guideline also includes equipment used in shops, light industries, and farms that could endanger the public, such as microwave ovens designed for shipboard use. Appliances made especially for use by professionals in commercial food processing, however, are not included in the scope of this standard.
A clearer definition of intended use, rationalization of the door endurance test, acceptance of alternative interlock systems, clarification of the tests for electronic door interlock systems, a definition of pollution degree for combination microwave ovens, and a specification of the sheath thickness for visibly glowing heating elements in combination microwave ovens are just a few of the changes made to the standard from the previous edition.
Within 12 to 36 months of the standard's publication, it is advised that it be applied nationally.
