IEC 60335-2-90:2015 PDF Download

A standard called IEC 60335-2-90:2015 focuses on the security requirements for industrial microwave ovens. Included in this are microwaves with cavity doors, combination microwave ovens, and microwaves without cavity doors but equipped with conveyance mechanisms. In accordance with their rated voltage and intended application, the standard establishes the safety standards for these appliances. Provisions are also made for microwaves used aboard ships.

The use of these gadgets by children or other vulnerable people who are not being watched is not taken into account by the standard. Additionally, except for use near entrance and exit ports, it does not apply to the use of microwave ovens by regular people without a cavity door or with transportation methods. IEC 60335-1 and its revisions are to be used in combination with the standard.

The fourth edition of this standard, released in 2015, has a number of revisions over the first. This includes clarifications about the use of water jets for cleaning and the acceptance of interlock systems with disguised door interlocks, among other improvements. Additional requirements for appliances used in commercial road vehicles are also included. The standard also has annexes that offer instructions on common tests.
