A standard that particularly addresses the security requirements for electric fabric steamers is AS/NZS 60335.2.85:2018 (IEC Text). These appliances run on a voltage of no more than 250 V and are designed for use in homes and other similar contexts.
The revision of clause 25.7 in this edition as opposed to the previous version released in 2005 is one noteworthy change. With this modification, braided cords with the IEC 89 code 60245 can be used.
The 2005 edition of the standard will be replaced by this revised version, which was issued in June 2018. The text of IEC 60335-2-85 Ed. 2.2 is also included in AS/NZS 60335.2.85:2018, making them the same as the international standard.
