The strength, toughness, and stability specifications for storage furniture used in educational facilities are described in AS/NZS 4610.3:2020. This standard is applicable to many different forms of storage furniture, such as lockers, bookcases, shelving units, trolleys, magazine racks, and teaching units. The furniture may need to be fully or partially assembled and can either be stationary or transportable.

However, some items—such as wall-mounted units, specialist library shelving units, filing cabinets, lecterns, and comparable items—are not covered by the standard. Additionally, it ignores issues like power and cable management and electrical conformity. Additionally, this standard excludes glass testing and does not cover components composed of glass.
