Standard EN SampleHousehold and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Particular Requirements for Automatic Machines for Floor Treatment for Commercial and Industrial Use
Also Known As:
The safety standards for automatic equipment used for floor treatment in commercial and industrial environments are the focus of AS/NZS 60335.2.72:2003. It specifically applies to portable combined machines that are used to dry or wet-treat hard floors or floors covered in carpet, whether they have a built-in battery charger or not. These machines can be powered by batteries or mains electricity and can be used indoors or outdoors.
For single-phase appliances, the maximum rated voltage is 250 V, whereas for other appliances, it is 480 V. It covers a wide range of appliances, such as catering equipment, cleaning equipment for commercial and industrial applications, and hairstyling equipment. The standard also includes a number of comments that offer further details, such as defining mobile equipment as portable, defining "treatment" in the context of this standard, and mentioning particular specifications for machines handling hazardous dust.
It's crucial to keep in mind that this norm has several exceptions. Appliances made specifically for industrial usage or those used in places with unique characteristics, including corrosive or explosive atmospheres, are exempt from this rule. It also doesn't include certain kinds of appliances, like audio and video gear, medical appliances, portable motorized electric tools, personal computers, and audio and video equipment. Additionally, floor treatment devices for commercial and industrial usage are not covered by AS/NZS 60335.2.72:2003 since they are regulated by a different standard (IEC 60335-2-67).
