A standard for household and similar electrical equipment called AS/NZS 60335.1:2011 (IEC Text) focuses on general safety criteria. It is the acceptance of IEC 60335-1's fifth edition with certain national adjustments to meet the needs of Australia and New Zealand.
This standard is intended to be used in conjunction with the relevant Part 2 of AS/NZS 60335 since those parts contain clauses that either add to or change the corresponding clauses in Part 1 to offer more detailed specifications for various types of appliances. The country variations to IEC 60335-1 in this standard are consistent with the national differences in Australia and New Zealand for the CB scheme, a program for electrical equipment safety testing.
