Standard ENStandard Safety Specification for Residential Pool Alarms
Also Known As:
Residential pool alarms must adhere to the safety criteria of ASTM F2208-08 (R2019). This standard's objective is to set performance criteria for pool alarms used in private swimming pools and spas. The specification includes equipment that can detect the unintended, unattended, or accidental entry of a kid one year of age or older into the water and sound an alarm. This criterion is not meant to take the place of other safety criteria like adult supervision, fences, gates, and locks; it is crucial to remember that.
The standard specifies four different types of pool alarms: Type A, a floating pool alarm that is placed on the water's surface; Type B, a subsurface pool alarm; Type C, a pool perimeter alarm that is placed to detect movement at the perimeter or above the water's surface; and Type D, a personal immersion alarm device that is placed on the user(s).
