Standard EN SampleStandard Consumer Safety Specification for Infant and Cradle Swings
Also Known As:
A consumer safety standard called ASTM F2088-22 seeks to reduce the dangers and risks that swings pose to young children. To protect the safety of infants utilizing swings, the standard provides safety performance requirements, test procedures, and labeling requirements. The usual use of swings as well as reasonably foreseen misuse or abuse are both covered within its purview.
The requirement applies to swings that have a powered mechanism, such as batteries, an AC adapter, a wind-up mechanism, or any other device, and are made to allow the seat to swing or glide in any direction in relation to the frame. However, products intended to offer sleeping arrangements for the tenant are not covered by the specification.
Importantly, any swing created after the standard's certification date must comply with every stipulation in the specification in order to be considered compliant. This reduces the possibility of newborn injuries and guarantees that swings available on the market adhere to the essential safety requirements.
