The main characteristics for various kinds of floor coverings, such as resilient floor coverings, textile floor coverings, laminate floor coverings, and modular multilayer floor coverings, are outlined in the European standard BS EN 14041:2018. These floor coverings are designed for indoor usage in buildings, and the standard offers evaluation procedures for judging how well they perform in relation to these crucial factors.

As well as systems for evaluating and confirming the consistency of performance (AVCP) and for marking the items appropriately, the standard includes standards for expressing the performance of these qualities. It should be highlighted that, as established by Regulation (EU) No. 305/2011, the standard does not address standards for floor coverings that are not connected to these basic qualities. Additionally, it doesn't discuss how to install or maintain these floor coverings.
