Eye and Face Protection for Sports Use - Part 1: Requirements for Downhill Skiing and Snowboarding Goggles
Also Known As:
The standards for downhill skiing and snowboarding goggles used for eye and face protection in sports are the subject of the standard DIN EN ISO 18527-1. Afocal goggles with plano power, or no corrective lens power, are covered by the standard. During skiing and snowboarding sports, these goggles are made to shield the eyes from a variety of dangers, including ultraviolet and visible solar radiation, rain, snow, and wind.
The standard covers a wide range of goggles' characteristics, such as their construction, optical qualities, and testing processes. It makes sure the goggles are capable of offering the user's eyes and face the necessary level of protection and that they meet specified performance requirements. The standard also specifies the information that manufacturers must supply as well as the standards for labeling and branding the goggles.
The use of eye protection while driving or riding a motorized vehicle, defense against artificial optical radiation (such as that found in solariums), defense against direct sun exposure, and eye protection for sports unrelated to skiing and snowboarding are all exempt from this standard.
