The safety, sturdiness, and durability specifications for bunk beds and high beds used in both domestic and non-domestic settings are outlined in the DIN EN 747-1 standard. This standard applies only to bunk beds that are 600 mm or higher from the floor to the top bed base, as well as high beds that meet the same height requirements for the top bed base. The beds with internal lengths greater than 140 cm and a maximum bed base width of 120 cm are taken into account in the strength and durability tests carried out in accordance with this standard.
This standard's primary goal is to reduce the likelihood of accidents, with a focus on kid safety. It's crucial to remember that this standard does not address the safety requirements for extra goods like tables or storage furniture integrated into bunk beds or high beds. Additionally, bunk beds and high beds utilized for specific purposes, such as in jails, military facilities, or fire brigades, are not covered by this standard.
