Floating Leisure Articles for Use on and in the Water - Part 7: Additional Specific Safety Requirements and Test Methods for Class E Devices
Also Known As:
Class E floating recreational items used on and in water are subject to the DIN EN ISO 25649-7 standard. This standard should be used in conjunction with DIN EN ISO 25649-1 and DIN EN ISO 25649-2, and it applies to both inflated and buoyant devices.
Devices in the Class E category are intended for use only on shorelines that are safe and protected for swimming. Canoes, kayaks, inflatable boats built from plastic sheets or other reinforced materials, inflatable boats for rowing or paddling, and motor or sail kits are some examples of products that come under Class E.
The standard also lists common uses for Class E devices, including leisure activities, lounging on the water, travel between shore and major watercraft, and the carriage of people and freight in tender boats. For Class E devices to be safe and appropriate for their intended use, this standard specifies additional safety requirements and test procedures.
