The DIN EN 12790-1 standard focuses on safety criteria and test procedures for reclining cradles used for kids up until they try to sit up on their own. Both fixed and foldable reclining cradles fall into this category. As long as the car seat complies with UN R44 or UN R129 rules and the manufacturer's instructions permit use as a reclining cradle, it is also covered by the standard. However, a car seat is not included in the scope of this standard if it does not mention being used as a reclining cradle in its product description or marketing materials. The applicable European standards will apply to any extra functionalities that a reclining cradle may have or that it may change into.
