Standard EN EN DESurfaces for sports areas - Determination of thickness of synthetic sports surfaces
Also Known As:
Two methods are described in the DIN EN 1969 standard for figuring out how thick synthetic sports surfaces should be. When accurate measurements to an accuracy of 0.1 mm are necessary, procedure A, a destructive test procedure, is used. The thickness of several layers within the synthetic surface can be ascertained using this method. Contrarily, procedure B is a non-destructive test procedure designed for frequent thickness checks. Depending on the texture of the surface, it delivers measurements with an accuracy of between 0.5 mm and 1.5 mm. This technique is frequently applied when surveying a sizable synthetic surfacing area or for control purposes. The standard guarantees that measurements of thickness for synthetic sports surfaces can be made precisely and consistently.
