Also Known As:
The DIN EN 13138-1 standard specifies the safety standards for swimming aids that are specifically made to help novices learn to swim or develop better swimming strokes. The standard addresses elements like design, functionality, sizing, labeling, and data supplied by the manufacturer.
The standard also outlines test procedures to confirm adherence to these safety standards. It is crucial to remember that this section of the EN 13138 standard only applies to gadgets meant to be worn and tightly fastened to the body. These gadgets need to be either naturally buoyant or able to be inflated.
It is important to note, nonetheless, that the regulation only applies to Class B swimming stroke introduction devices. It excludes pull buoys, swim rings, lifebuoys, buoyancy aids, lifejackets, and Class A or Class C devices, as well as aquatic toys.
