Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Test Code for the Determination of Airborne Acoustical Noise - Part 1: General Requirements
Also Known As:
The assessment of airborne acoustical noise in household and comparable electrical equipment is the topic of the standard IEC 60704-1:2021. The standard is applicable to electric appliances used in homes or in settings comparable to those found in lodging establishments, hotels, hair salons, etc. It includes devices that are battery- or mains-powered.
The standard does not, however, include appliances made specifically for commercial or industrial use, those incorporated into structures or installations (such as air conditioning systems), independent motors or generators, or outdoor appliances.
This standard's objective is to provide broad guidelines for evaluating and assessing the acoustical noise emissions of home appliances. It details the requirements for climatic conditions and background noise levels, as well as the methods to be followed for carrying out the testing.
IEC 60704-1:2021's fourth edition is an update to the version from 2010. Updates to references and modifications to the specifications for climate conditions and background noise levels are among the noteworthy changes.
