Clothes Washing Machines for Household Use - Methods for Measuring the Performance
Also Known As:
A standard called IEC 60456:2010 offers techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of home laundry appliances. The standard includes spin extractors and washer-dryers, as well as washing machines that use a cold or hot water supply. It also includes appliances that can be used regularly without detergent.
The standard has undergone a number of important revisions since the previous version. In situations where the machine's rated capacity has not been specified, it alters the test load mass required. It adds a soft water option and expands the stain and soil testing set. Additionally, it enhances how the test load materials are loaded and folded to better accommodate various washing machine systems.
Also included in the standard are new reference programs for lower temperature and vertical axis systems, as well as updated and revised reference machine requirements. It improves the technique for calculating rinse efficiency and adds the low-power "OFF" and "Left On" modes. The standard also has a new annex that discusses measurement uncertainty.
