Standard EN SampleOffice Furniture - Tables and Desks - Test Methods for the Determination of Stability, Strength and Durability
Also Known As:
Office tables and desks can be tested to see if they are stable, strong, and durable using the test procedures outlined in ISO 21016:2007. This standard is applicable to a variety of office furniture, such as desks, meeting tables, height-adjustable tables, and work tables. The tests mimic both typical functioning use and misuse that is conceivably possible.
The test procedures for storage elements are covered by a different standard (ISO 7170); hence, they are not covered by this one. To assess the qualities of the tables' many components, the tests involve applying loads, forces, and velocities to those components. The tests are made to evaluate the tables' performance without taking into account their structure, design, or manufacturing methods.
It's crucial to remember that the test results only apply to the particular unit or component that was evaluated. If the tested model is typical of the production model, it can be used to reflect the performance of such models. The tests are designed to show that the tables can function satisfactorily in their intended setting. The tests can be utilized for fault investigation if necessary, but they cannot guarantee that structural failure won't happen due to abuse or continued use.
It is important to note that ISO 21016:2007 merely describes test procedures; no standards are given. If a separate document is not available, suggested forces and cycles are provided in the standard. Requirements should be specified in this document. Last but not least, the standard omits a review of the tables' deterioration or aging.
