Standard EN SampleTextile and Laminate Floor Coverings - Assessment of Static Electrical Propensity - Walking Test
Also Known As:
ISO 6356:2012 is a standard that describes how to use a walking test to determine the static electrical propensity of textile and laminate floor coverings. This standard's goal is to enable a comparative assessment of different surfaces by measuring their electrostatic performance under controlled settings.
The test considers a variety of parameters that can influence electrostatic charge generation, including humidity, shoe materials, walking surface, and individual idiosyncrasies. It should be emphasized, however, that the results of this test may not exactly reflect actual field experiences.
ISO 6356:2012 can be utilized for classification and dispute resolution as long as the measuring technique is carried out under controlled conditions defined in the applicable classification standard or agreed upon by all parties involved. In some circumstances, measurements under non-controlled settings, such as on installed floor coverings, may be required. For such measurements, the measurement methodology stated in this standard, as well as the specified footwear or footwear suitable to the end use, can be utilized.
