Dentistry - Dentifrices - Requirements, Test Methods and Marking
Also Known As:
ISO 11609:2017 is a standard that specifies dentifrice specifications, test methodologies, and labeling rules. Dentifrices are oral care products, such as toothpaste, that are designed for daily use with a toothbrush by customers to maintain oral hygiene. This standard focuses on the physical and chemical qualities of dentifrices, ensuring that particular criteria are met.
The standard specifies appropriate test procedures that should be used to evaluate dentifrices. These test methods aim to evaluate many elements of dentifrices, such as their physical and chemical properties, in order to assure their quality and efficiency. Requirements for the marking, labeling, and packaging of dentifrices are also established to ensure that customers receive clear and correct information.
It is crucial to note, however, that ISO 11609:2017 does not address specific qualitative and quantitative requirements for biological and toxicological safety. These issues are addressed in other standards, especially ISO 7405 and ISO 10993-1.
