The criteria and test procedures for manual interdental brushes with a circular cross-section of the brush head are outlined in ISO 16409:2006. The standard covers the box labeling as well as the manufacturer's directions for use, in addition to defining the performance requirements for these brushes. The use of powered interdental brushes, manual toothbrushes, dental floss, tapes, and strings, as well as interdental cleaners without filaments, is not covered by this standard.
