Standard EN SampleHousehold and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Particular requirements for room heaters
Also Known As:
The safety criteria for electric room heaters used in homes and other similar situations are outlined in AS/NZS 60335.2.30:2004. The specification covers appliances with rated voltages up to 480 V for other appliances and 250 V for single-phase appliances.
Convector heaters, fan heaters, greenhouse heaters, liquid-filled radiators, panel heaters, radiant heaters, and tube heaters are only a few of the many types of room heaters that are covered by the standard. It also includes equipment used in businesses, light industry, and farms that isn't meant for typical household usage but could nonetheless endanger the public.
While the standard addresses frequent risks related to room heaters, it does not particularly take into consideration the use of appliances by infants or elderly people without adult supervision. It also does not take into account the possibility of abuse or play with the appliance on the part of young children.
The use of appliances in vehicles, on ships, or in aircraft in the presence of combustible dust or as required by national health authorities, labor protection authorities, or equivalent bodies in various countries may necessitate additional requirements.
Industrial appliances, those made for use in corrosive or explosive environments, heaters built into air conditioners or used for drying clothes, saunas, thermal-storage room heaters, heating devices for animals, foot warmers and heating mats, flexible sheet heating elements, heated carpets, central heating systems, and heating cables are all expressly excluded from the standard.
