Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-30: Particular Requirements for Room Heaters
Also Known As:
A standard called IEC 60335-2-30:2009 focuses on the security requirements for electric room heaters used in homes and other similar applications. It applies to appliances with a rated voltage of up to 480 V for other types of appliances and 250 V for single-phase devices. The range of room heaters covered by this standard includes convection heaters, fan heaters, liquid-filled radiators, panel heaters, radiant heaters, tube heaters, and appliances with ceiling-mounted heat lamp devices.
Additional instructions for heaters without a built-in thermostat, as well as those installed in the floor or bathroom, are among the major revisions made to this edition of the standard. Additionally, it adds a spillage test for appliances with grilles that are built into the floor.
It is advised that after the release of this standard, manufacturers and testing organizations comply with the new requirements and get ready to conduct new or amended tests. It is advised that this standard be put into effect nationally between 12 and 36 months after it was published.
IEC 60335-1:2010, which outlines general specifications for the safety of electrical equipment, should be read alongside the standard. The material from the November 2014 corrigendum is likewise included in the copy of the standard.
