Standard EN SampleSafety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Particular Requirements - Room Heaters
Also Known As:
Specifically, room heaters are covered by AS/NZS 3350.2.30:1997, a standard that deals with the security of home appliances and other comparable electrical devices. The specification covers electric space heaters with rated voltages up to 480 V for other appliances and 250 V for single-phase appliances. Radiant, panel, liquid-filled, fan, convector, tubular, and greenhouse heaters are only a few examples of the different types of room heaters that fall under the standard's purview.
The standard intends to address typical risks connected with room heaters that might be experienced by everyone inside and outside the home. It does not, however, take into account incidents of youngsters playing with the appliance or the usage of these appliances by small children or elderly people without adult supervision.
It is significant to note that some specialty heaters, such as those designed for use in cars, on ships, or in airplanes, or in tropical regions where additional requirements might be necessary, are exempt from the standard. Additionally, it excludes heaters included in air conditioners, dryers, towel rails, sauna heaters, thermal storage room heaters, heating equipment used in animal breeding and rearing, thin-sheet flexible heating elements, heated carpets, heated curtains, and similar flexible heating units, hot-air central heating systems, and heating cables.
