Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Part 2: Particular Requirements for Room Heaters
Also Known As:
Room heater safety requirements and recommendations are provided by the CAN/CSA-E335-2-30-94 standard for use in residential and other settings.
Radiant heaters, panel heaters, radiators with liquid in them, fan heaters, convector heaters, and tubular heaters are just a few examples of the variety of room heaters that are covered by the standard. It also includes space heaters with built-in lighting or ventilation systems.
The standard covers heaters used in stores, light industries, and farms that could endanger the public, even though it primarily focuses on room heaters meant for regular household use.
The guideline, however, does not take into account the particular risks that can arise in settings like nurseries or locations with small children, the elderly, or infirm people who are not under supervision. In these circumstances, additional restrictions can be required.
Thermal storage room heaters, sauna heaters, heating cables, wallpaper heaters, carpet heaters, and room heaters designed for use in corrosive or explosive environments are all exempt from the standard.
Additional specifications may be needed for room heaters used in cars, on ships, in airplanes, or in tropical regions, depending on the purpose and location. It is significant to note that in many nations, national authorities in charge of labor and health may impose additional restrictions.
