The safety of electric tumble dryers used for domestic and similar purposes is the primary objective of the AS/NZS 60335.2.11:2009 standard. This standard is applicable to tumble dryers rated at up to 480 V for other appliances and 250 V for single-phase appliances. Two years after its publication, this standard will replace AS/NZS 60335.2.11:2002 as an upgraded version. During this transitional phase, it is anticipated that regulatory agencies will allow tumble dryers that adhere to either the 2002 or 2009 standards.
