Standard EN SampleHousehold and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Particular Requirements for Tumble Dryers
Also Known As:
The safety criteria for electric tumble dryers used in homes and in comparable locations are covered in AS/NZS 60335.2.11:2002. It covers devices with rated voltages up to 480 V for other devices and up to 250 V for single-phase devices.
This requirement is also applicable to washing machines with a drying feature. It includes devices used in stores, small businesses, farms, or other non-household settings that might represent a risk to the general public. Laundries and apartment complex shared tumble dryers are two examples of these appliances.
The standard does not particularly address the usage of the appliances by unattended small children or people with limited mobility, even though it attempts to address frequent hazards connected with equipment in and around the home. It further adds that extra standards, as well as particular requirements established by national health, labor protection, and water supply agencies, may be necessary for appliances used in automobiles, ships, or airplanes.
It is significant to highlight that this standard does not apply to appliances used in sites with unique characteristics, such as corrosive or explosive atmospheres, or to those designed solely for industrial uses.
