Standard ENStandard Specification for Helmets Used in Skateboarding and Trick Roller Skating
Also Known As:
"Standard Specification for Helmets Used in Skateboarding and Trick Roller Skating" is the name of the ASTM F1492-22 standard. It outlines the design, functionality, and testing specifications for helmets used for skateboarding and trick roller skating.
In addition to peak acceleration and time duration, headforms and sizes, impact anvils (including flat, cylindrical, and triangular hazard anvils), dynamic strength retention systems, impact sites, velocity, and schedule are also covered by the standard.
The scope of the standard emphasizes that, unless otherwise specified, all testing and requirements must be in line with Test Methods F1446. Additionally, it stipulates that only full conformity with the specification may be claimed; therefore, any helmet claiming conformance with the standard must comply with all of its requirements. A helmet that doesn't adhere to any one of the specifications is said to have failed the specification and shouldn't be advertised as meeting any of its requirements.
