Standard ENStandard Test Method for the Determination of Percent of Let-Off for Archery Bows
Also Known As:
The ASTM F1880-09 (R2013) standard specifies a method for calculating the percentage of let-off for archery bows. The force-draw curve is used to determine the let-off percentage, which takes into account elements such as the hysteresis effect and rating circumstances.
The standard recognizes that some cam designs used in compounding systems for archery bows might generate variations in let-off percentage with changes in draw length and draw weight. As a result, the mid-draw length and maximum draw weight (within the bow's maximum rated weight) are utilized to calculate the official let-off percentage.
Two methods have historically been used to determine the let-off percentage for archery bows. The first technique used the force-draw curve's peak draw force and minimum holding force, whereas the second employs the force-draw curve's peak draw force and minimum holding force. The standard defines and distinguishes between these two ways.
